REQUIREMENTS
Sierteelt Direct is the logistic hub for the direct flows on Trade Parc Westland. Growers are delivering their plants 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, just when it suits them. These plants are delivered on Danish trolleys equipped with RFID tags of Container Centralen. These trolleys must be checked for authenticity by verifying the EPCIS code.
SOLUTION
In cooperation with Interaxi, a company that offers integrated and managed automatic identification solutions, they developed a solution that makes use of BlueBerry UHF, the key fob sized RFID reader by Tertium Technology. BlueBerry is attached to the employees' shoe and connected to a Motorola scanner via Bluetooth. Using the software developed by Interaxi, the growers' transport documents are paired to the RFID tag of Container Centralen for the tracking and tracing of the flow of goods. The project 'Van Plant Tot Klant' (From Plant To Customer) aims to provide insight into the ornamental plant cultivation sector in the Netherlands. Since the RFID tag is placed low to the ground, the use of compact BlueBerry is ideal and Sierteelt Direct employees have no need to bend. The small scan range of the BlueBerry also prevents incorrect RFID tags from being scanned in a busy day at Sierteelt Direct.
